About this product:
"I am not a professional carpenter. Just a weekend warrior... I had cut up 20 feet of beautiful cornice trying to get my first corner to fit. I could not do it. I talked with professionals and they all told me to cope the joints. I just did not want to do that. Thanks to the internet I found the Magic Mitre box. I made my first mitre cut this afternoon. IT FIT THE FIRST TIME! You can have my electric mitre saw.... But I will fight you for my Magic Mitre. Thanks for a great invention. Very happy user."

Magic Mitre - Instructions

Click a link to open separate instructions for:

GOING UP THE STAIRS WITH CROWN MOULDING
Follow the instructions in the instruction leaflet (For example).

DOWNSTAIRS CEILING/GOING UP
To determine the angle of cut required, take the Template to the Ceiling at the point at which it starts to go up the Stairs See FIG 13 and Lock the template in the required position.

Use the Template to set the pivoting workpiece holders at an EXTERNAL angle (See FIG 2) and lock the workpiece holders in position.

NOW TAKE SPECIAL NOTE
When cutting mitres in crown mouldings for this type of angle, the WALL EDGE that you have marked on the back of the crown moulding should be at the FRONT of the tool when cutting See FIG 15.
You must therefore first establish the distance by which your crown moulding will be standing DOWN from the ceiling when fixed. See FIG 14

Having determined exactly what measurement "D" is, you must then locate the guide piece/cam with the word "CEILING" in it at measurement "D" from the back wall of the locked workpiece holder.

It may be necessary to use a "timber packing strip" (not provided) to arrive at measurement "D" to suit the selected type and size of crown moulding, See FIG 15.

The crown moulding that is to go on the LEFT HAND side of the mitre joint when being cut is located in the LEFT HAND locked workpiece holder with the WALL edge to the front.
The crown moulding that is to go on the RIGHT HAND side of the mitre joint when being cut is located in the RIGHT HAND locked workpiece holder with the WALL edge to the front.

STAIRS CEILING/ TO LANDING
To determine the angle of cut required, take the Template to the Ceiling at the point at which the ceiling joins the upstairs ceiling See FIG 13 and lock the Template in the required position. Use the Template to set the workpiece holders at an INTERNAL angle (See FIG 1) and lock the workpiece holders in position.

Once again using measurement "D" as in (FIG 14).

The crown moulding that is to go on the LEFT HAND side of the mitre joint when being cut should be located in the LEFT HAND locked workpiece holder with the WALL edge to the front.

The crown moulding that is to go on the RIGHT HAND side of the mitre joint when being cut should be located in the RIGHT HAND locked workpiece holder with the WALL edge to the front.
