•Now, lift the top tray and rotate only the middle tray 180° (180 degrees). Now restack the top tray on top of the middle tray. As you can see, the trays no longer rock back and forth, as they are now oriented and stacked properly. •Try the following. Lift the top tray, and look at the bottom two trays. You'll see that in this orientation, they complement one another to form a solid container. Now, rotate the tray you have lifted, (the once top tray), 180° and lay it beside the other two trays. Now place the two tray stack on top of the single tray. If you now lift the new top tray, you'll see that the two bottom trays again form a solid container. This feature is what gives Quicksand™ its ability to sift perpetually. Adjacent trays must always be oriented 180° to one another. This is achieved by always making sure to rotate the top tray 180° before putting it on the bottom of the stack. In this way, the bottom two trays together will always form the litter container, while the top tray will always act as the sift. •Now, imagine that you have just come back from emptying the tray. You wish to return the tray to the bottom of the stack, but have forgotten which way the tray is supposed to go. Not a problem - always make sure that the top tray and the bottom tray of the three tray stack are oriented the same way, and that the middle tray is oriented the opposite way. You do this by making sure that before you stack the three trays, the notched handles of the single tray are oriented in the same manner as the notched handles of the top tray of the two tray stack that you are about to place on top of it. •You are now ready to add the clumping cat litter. Quicksand™ works with any brand of clumping cat litter with litter granules smaller than the slots. Please note - in order that you achieve optimum results, the trays must have enough litter in them for any liquid to completely solidify, (form clumps with the litter), before reaching the bottom of the trays. As well, there must be enough weight in the trays to ensure that the trays are held flat against one another. This ensures a good seal. To ensure you have put in enough litter, use the fill lines in the four inside corners of the trays. Remember, it is only necessary to put in this much litter the very first time you fill the trays. After that, you need only top up the litter as it is depleted. The fill lines are only a guide. They ensure that there is enough litter for larger cats and / or cats that like to "dig". Smaller cats and / or "non diggers" can get away with less litter. •It's now time to try sifting the litter. It is recommended that you practice either of the following sifting techniques before your cat uses the litter box to ensure that you do not spill any litter when using it:
OR
•Discard any urine clumps and / or waste. (Do not flush clumping cat litter down the toilet.) •Wipe off any residue with a paper towel or rinse the tray with a hose or in the laundry sink. (Do not use a dish sink or bath tub, as cat feces contain harmful bacteria). If you are using water to clean the tray, make sure to dry the tray before returning it to the bottom of the stack, or the litter will stick to the tray. •Rotate the single tray 180° and place the two tray stack containing the litter on top of it. (Before re-stacking the three trays, always remember, it is essential that the notches in the handles of the top tray of the two tray stack are oriented in the same way as the notches in the handles of the single tray that they are going to be place on top of.) •Place the spill guard on top of the stack of trays. |
